I turned 61 in June, and emotionally I feel more like a teenager than I did in the 1970s. Since then I have taken a physically demanding outside job, started taking a college class, and am wearing clear teeth aligners (braces).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I started working at a local carwash as the closing manager two weeks ago. I have no prior experience in the carwash industry and there is a lot to learn. I am out in the heat and the weather each day. I am on my feet the entire time. While I am not the oldest person there, I definitely caused an increase in the average age of the employees. There are 19 employees of which four are over 25 years of age, ten are between 18 and 25, and five are under 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My wife and I have been wanting to learn Spanish for many years. We finally have the opportunity. We enrolled in Elementary Spanish at a local community college. I am the oldest person in the class, followed closely by Lisa. Then there is a small gap between Lisa and our instructor (who has adult children). Everyone else is either a traditional college student or a high school student in concurrent enrollment, including a ninth grader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then there are the aligners. Braces. They are virtually invisible, but braces nonetheless. I will be wearing them for approximately five months. I should have had braces when I was in middle school, but our quack of a dentist waited until just after I finished my junior year of high school to decide the time was right. It would have been braces and headgear for 20 hours a day for between three and five years. This would include my senior year in high school and most of college, and that was not going to happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
